If you sign up for a membership online, how do they verify that you are a member of the miliyary? It asks what branch you are and everything, but do you prove that you are?

I've had my acct since 1999 when I was stationed @ Okinawa. I've been out since 2002 and still use them for my primary banking acct, auto loans, etc.

They aren't as great as they used to be, but I still keep them. Their rates are higher than my local credit union, but it is easier to get loans through them. I usually get a loan through them, then refinance it with my local C.U.

Im pretty sure being a military-only CU - They have their hands held by DFAS so they can simply submit an inquiry to them with your SSN to verify if your in military.. I personally opened my account with them in person though, so i had my military ID with my SSN on the back of it as my proof of identity xD

I opened my account in basic with them, but if it wasn't such a pain in the *** I would switch. They are the most horrible bank I have had yet. Every once in a while money goes missing out of my account with no reason and they can't tell me why, they've adjusted the interest on my loans without notifying me so I became late on the payments since the amount changed, I could go on and on. I would go to USAA if I could switch all my stuff over.

Ive been a member since 00, and havent had a single issue with them. Hell, they even called me one time, before a charge even posted. They told me it was a known scam, and that my card has already been closed and a new one was on its way.

I got a question, for us reservist how do we deposit money into our Navy Federal account? There is no base for me to go to have access to one of their banks, I can take money, out of any atm but can not deposit money.

from what I looked up in the past, you can't. The only way you can deposit money into your account is if you go to a co-op ATM and you can deposit a check into your account. I was selling car parts locally and ran into this problem, and that was the only solution I found.
