Default USMC Marksmanship instructors in here

well I just got the opportunity to go to coaches course at the end of the month. My unit isnt required to do most of the annual traning so the only time I'd be coaching is when we had to get someone going on an IA trained. As of right now, our unit doesn’t have any coaches here to go train IA's. I only have 8 months left on my 2nd enlistment. Would it even be worth me going?? Or would it be better for me to let someone who has more time left here to go so thye can be here longer and help out longer… Also, whats the course like? Where did you go through? How long etc etc… Let me know. I want as much info as possible before I tell them yes or no wether or not

You dont have to be a Coach to train IA or IP. Marines from all fields from Admin to 03s are on the MTT, PTT and DTC training the Iraqis without going to coaches course. From what I heard coaches course is a joke, you learn the same things your PMI thaught you just in a diffrent enviroment.

well our unit doesnt even have a coach right now... at all!!! so they want to send me so that when we do get our few range quotas, we have someone to go coach, as well as training IA's.

-the whole "training IA" part of it is because they are require to go to the range with their TO weapons prior to them deploying per the CMC's new IA guidance... another reason they need a coach.

Coaches course is a joke. When I went through MTU they didn't even instruct you how to instruct people.

Now EMP instructors course, there is a good one.

I thought you meant PMI school. My thought is it could not hurt unless your current gig is what you like to do.
