Default USAF Bases on the East Coast

What's up-
Any of you guys stationed on the East Coast at any good Bases that have decent Tracks around them? Also, how about the Emissions and Inspections for Vehicles..
I am USAF, Fire Fighter, and I have the option to put in for BOP, and I am looking for something cool.

macdill is THE BEST base on the east coast by far. its in tampa loads and loads of cars fbody's,mustangs, supra's everything lots of racing. the closest 1/4 mile track is 45 mins closest 1/8 mile track is about 20 mins from the base. and then you have the orlando speedway which isnt to much farther.

maybe im a little basis towards tampa since im from there but im sure some people wil back me up on this. plus the weather is great in my eyes b/c it doesnt snow so you can drive your car year round and there are plenty of things to do in tampa and the surrounding areas besides cars.

oh and NO emissions

I'm a fire dawg stationed at Seymour Johnson. Base is okay but there are a lot of F-bodies and other fast **** in the area. We have a 1/4 mile track in Kinston (20 minutes) and another one if Fayetteville (45 minutes), Coastal Plains (1hr 15min), Rockingham (2.5 hours), New Bern (1hr 15min). There are also atleast five 1/8 mile tracks--- Brewer's (1 hour; hooks awesome), Nauhunta (10 minutes), Dunn-Benson (maybe a little over an hour) there are more but can't remember the names right now.

FWIW--> We just got a $13 million main station and station two was close to $3 million. As long as the car is 1995 or older (pre OBD II) you don't have to worry about emissions. Not sure if the car needs a safety inspection or not because my cars are registered in OH.

No Hurricane issues on that side of FL? Tampa, Seymour or Scott are the places I'm shooting for next summer.

Macdill rocks. Bradenton Motorsports Park aint that far, RevXtreme ----->(sponsor) is right outside downtown Tampa, Theres always lots of other nice cars around as well. As stated earlier, theres no inspections but the cops are dicks about tint if they pull you over. Thats why I always roll my windows down.. The only downsides I can think of is it gets hot/humid as hell, and the traffic sucks *** sometimes. Really there arent many other better places I can think of other than Patrick (no emissions in FL) and maybe Langley.

Things are changing in the department here. Our chief (GS-15) is transfering and our deputy (SMSgt) is PCSing as well. They are going to a 1 on/2 off schedule before we get back so it should be interesting.

Lol, they say "Shaw" is an acronym for "Stay here a while" right?

Ditto on Fayetteville NC track, though I hear Rockingham drag way is prepped better.

I've never run at Rockingham because it's a haul from Seymour. A group of us might have to take a road trip we I get back and try it out

i wouldnt say it has been a 100 years...but it has been a while. Hurricanes arent that bad in Tampa at all no matter what. I wish I could get stationed in Tampa, but there arent any ships there Im going to try and get orders to Macdill if i can. I miss Tampa alot, and so does my wife.

Langley isnt too bad. Va cops suck *** though. Theyre horrible...but if your car is registered somewhere besides Va, you dont have to do the Va inspections...still have to worry about exhaust/tint/other BS laws though...but there are alot of Fbody guys here, and alot of other fast cars too. From langley, there are two 1/4 mile tracks about 45 mins away...

Someone mentioned traffic and the heat in Florida...its 10x worse in Va. Traffic is horrible bc you have the Navy base here, and the heat is worse here IMO..its so humid and just plain hot..

I'm at McGuire, and I guess you could call me competition Pretty much any base on the east coast is better than McGuire. However, Atco is probably one of the best tracks to go to in the US. Not only is it at sea level like ones in Tampa, but it's much cooler up here, and usually less humid, so you will run better times on average than in Tampa.

Don't get me wrong though, if you have a choice, do yourself a favor and go to Macdill. It's not so much that McGuire sucks, because base itself isn't really to terrible, its just that it happens to be in Jersey, which sucks.

This should help, I'm working on doing it nationwide for everyone to use.

Map

Just keep checking back. I'm done for now but will hit some more states later.
