Default Cobra owner with nitto DR's upfront??!!! I had to get'em!!! Caption this!!!

At a local car meet last week and saw this!! He had Dr's all around, I had to refrain myself by not asking questions!! At least they were the same size all around although largers ones in the front would have been great!!

All I could think about was posting this too you guys!!! Enjoy!!!

Typically drs have too soft of a sidewall for cornering.

Yes I understand that dr's stick better and are softer compounds but tire companies make **** ton of shaved road race tires designed specifically for hard turns and breaking.
Shaved R1's, pilots, dunlops etc etc provide much more sidewall support than these nt555's....Sure its a matter of opinion, as to mine is leave the dr's out back for drag racing and for road racing go ahead an use road rice tires

also his cobra looked fine, i like those yr models as well. wasnt knockn the car just his choice in tires up front

Maybe he is prepping for when the rears bad? Spare pair to swap out on the road.....

I do know if he wanted to Road race they make the NT01 and the NT05, both of which are pretty good tires.

Just a heads up, Nitto makes 555R's for different uses, the road course guys use the Nitto 555RII's . Yes the 555RII's do have a stiffer sidewall than the drag radials

I autocrossed with those, but only in the rear. And on a truck! As someone stated, soft sidewall, but I once posted 10th fastest out of 80+ vehicles, so they weren't a bad tire for it either. Never seen them on the front, though. Can't figure out why - however I bet it still gripped fine, even though that wasn't the intended purpose.

Nitto DRs on all 4 corners works surprisingly well and has been done for a long time, and in many cases is more practical than the road race tires. But not on a Fox Mustang, nothing can make that front suspension work.
