JSNONE & Runn, both of those look really great. How'd you go about doing it? Must've taken a lot of work with making board and soldering all those LEDs. Nice job.

Very nice
Here's a tip:
Because your paint is very shallow (you can see where the light shines through above the bird and around the corners), you can either paint the back of the cover black or do what I did and put mirror vinyl behind the cover itself and on the bumper
This will only allow the the light to shine through bird (not the cover) and the mirrors will make the light twice as bright

It actually does not shine through above the bird, I thought the same thing when I saw it, it is actually just the neon reflecting off the top because it angles out. As far as the edges go I plan on putting some black foam, like weather stripping around the edges

The first few covers I made, I used standard sized decals, painted it, then added a slightly smaller decal before shooting the clear....
However, the last few I've made, I just mask everything myself with masking tape, paint, remove, clear, then scuff, add smaller decal, then clear again....
The scuffing allows the light to be defused so it glows rathers than shines and handling dry clear is much easier than paint alone....

man, i just thought up a good idea. Take the clear cover, then spray some of that lense black out spray on it (the stuff people use to black out tail light and stuff) just spray enough to make it look black instead of clear, then cover up the bird with an overlay or whatever and paint it, then remove the overlay or masking, then when you have the light off, the bird would look black instead of clear, but with the light on, it would still shine through. On a white car like mine, the bird looking black with the lights off instead of clear would look way better in my opinion.
