Clean pics of my 87 TA...my paint detailing procedure...56k warning
Hey everyone. Just cleaned up my 87 TA today. It was 60 degrees and sunny all day...on Dec 17th... Crazy. I know this is mostly a 4th gen site...but I do have an LS1...figured a few of you guys might not mind!
Anyway...hope you all dont mind a few pics. Thought she was looking pretty good.
My steps for making the paint look great are as follows.
1: Wash with meguires gold class soap and warm water.
2: Next is going over the entire car with magic clay clay bar.
3: This step really takes your paint back to a clean slate. I use Meguires "step 1" paint cleaner. It takes all of the water marks or any other marks out.
4: Wax with Meguires Tech Wax.
As you will see...does an old paint job pretty good
My hood believe it or not...
Another reflextion shot...with my ugly mug showing...
Ok...the rest are for your viewing pleasure. Any comments are welcome!
I know some of the front end parts dont look lined up correctly. I had all the inner bracing for the bumper apart while I was doing he engine swap...and I didnt take my time putting it back. However I have to rebuild my headlight motor soon...so Ill tweak it all then. Getting things lined up on these cars is sort of a pain. With the long hoods and all the differnt body lines.
Thanks for looking!

Hey guys thanks for the compliments. Yes she is a 6 speed! I wouldnt want her any other way after driving her as an auto for about 5 years. I wasnt ahppy about having to get new wheels...and at first, I settled on the WS6 rims because they were a great deal and I sort of needed something fast. They were cheap, and came with almost new tires. Couldnt pass it up.

Yeah I would miss the crap out of this car if I ever got rid of it. I dont think I ever will. It doesnt owe me a dime. I daily drive it. Its comfortable. Does everything I need it to do... And if it ever fails mechanically...Im sure an LS7 can fix that
There are a bunch of pics floating around the net. But here are a couple. I still havent finished cleaning up the engine bay. Still some wires that need to be tucked, and it needs to be cleaned. Ive just been having too much fun driving it to even mess around under the hood.
haha...still looks better than this tho...
Just for fun... this is the first night the motor spent in its new home...

Haha...I get the knight rider thing all the time. I used to get all worked up about it. Since the year is wrong, and etc etc. Now I just sort of chuckle and change the subject. haha.
Thanks again for the compliments. Mods to the engine are mostly in my sig. There were a few other things that I couldnt fit into the sig lines. But most of the big stuff is in there. The trans is built as well. I dont know all the specs on it. But it was described to me as fully upgraded. And it feels quite different than some other T-56s that Ive tried. Spec III clutch, alum. flywheel, Pro 5.0, 02 hydraulics, adjustable master cylinder. And the rear is a strange 12bolt, also for a 4th gen. 3.73 gears, disc brakes, tubular LCAs.
I cant even list the amount of suspension I put into it. Mostly Spohn parts which Ive been very happy with so far. In fact...I think the only thing not spohn is the LCAs...which they might be soon. Adjustable panhard bar, sway bar drops for the 12-bolt, original 36mm/24mm sway bars, eibach pro kit, bilsteins all the way around, adjustablt torque arm, all new steering parts from the box to the tie rods, Solid adjusters for the tie rods, wonder bar, SFCs, and poly bushings for every bushing and mount... the works. The thing really handles great now. I even upgraded to use the LS1 front brakes. The list goes on and on. I used a ton of parts from the donar car. More than I thought I would actually use.
Its a bit of a change though. Before, the car could out handle its power plant. Meaning coming out of corners I could burry the skinny pedal and have no ill effects. Now its very easy to out power the handling. But I like it better this way
