Default My first motorcycle

Got my first bike! Its a Pewter 2007 Kawasaki Ninja 500R. Its a good starter bike, but don't let the engine size fool you, its still fast.
0-60: 3.75 sec
1/4 mile: 12.75 @ 102 mph

I have already put 120 miles on it in one week of owning it. I got my license today. Went riding and I had an absolute blast. I have to say i REALLY hate crosswinds, especially at 50mph+, very unsettling. Time will help with that.

Already did my first two mods: ZX-600R Mirrors, and Lockhart Phillips tinted screen.

Here are some pics:

Good choice for a first bike Gofast. It'll hold its value when your ready to step up, or you could always keep it as a trackbike for awhile. After you get some good seat time in, you should try a trackday. You'll be addicted!

Busa's are great sportcruisers, but not good for a first bike. Why did you start on it Jimmy?

Perfect starter bike, excellent choice!! Get real comfortable on it before you step up to something bigger.

GTO Jimmy: Please be careful, if you're truly a beginner to riding you shouldn't be on a 'busa IMO.

the first bike i ever rode was a busa the first bike i ever owned was an 02 r1 wich is now an 07 r1. It depends on the person getting the bike yes i have dropped a bike or 2 but i comes with the territory. Your gonna go down it just depends on how hard. I bought the 02 r1 in 03 and i just bought the 07 last month and ive only been down on my bike once. I say get the bike you want the first time.

Well I didnt want a 600 due to the fact that I am 6'3 220lbs and I knew I would get bored with it quick. Now the Busa on the other hand.... WOW.

yeah...not everyone has the ability of getting a smaller bike. 220lbs on a 600 would just look awkward. you can start on anybike you want...just remember one thing...respect the bike and it will take care of you...disrespect it and its gonna kick your *** every chance it gets.

Exactly! Just cause I ride a Busa doesn't mean I go 200mph on the back tire lol. I definately respect the bike a lot, I have taken it up to 178mph one time though.

GTO, Be safe man and enjoy!

GOFAST, welcome to the family.

I've had a TL1000RR, GSXR-1k, and 10R so far. Your 500R has stood up and proven itself a durable bike for MANY years.

beginner Busa owners are the worst to ride with... the only thing they can do is go straight, and good luck walkin away from it when u wreck.

I've seen plenty of people your size and bigger on a 600, and they're sure as heck not bored with it. I'm over 200lbs and over 6' too, nothing is boring.

Great choice for a starter bike. My very first bike was a '97 Ninja 500R, I still have that bike. Over 20k miles on it and still runs perfect.
