Default Started as tech thread / Now a transmission bad sale

I have a ls1 motor from a 2002 vette that I'm using for a kit car. In order to make sure that I have enough the finish the car I only have the money for heads or a cam. I have some 243 heads but I'm thinking of selling them to get $ for the cam.

So use

Ls1
Ls6 Intake
Ls6 heads
Stock Cam

OR

Ls1
Ls6 intake
228/228 cam
and mill the 241's or use thinner head gaskets.

Do the 243's flow that much better than the 241's?

What I have been reading is that the 243's will give me about 15rwhp.
If I decide to keep the 243's and still go with the 228 cam....

Say I bump the compression to around 11:1.

11:1 with the 241's
11:1 with the 243's Still only the 15rwhp difference? Or does the cam change everything?

In my opinion I would do the cam. I have a 228 cam and picked up 6mph from my previous cam (Hot Cam). It will change the attitude of the car.

I'm not for sure on the cost of milling. I know that I can order a set of 41 thousanth head gaskets.

If I sell the 243's that will almost pay for my cam setup.

I just hate to pull the 241's off just to put them back on.

just put a cam in you will make more power with the cam than the heads. It will also sound better.

Just a thought, but how much are you thinking that you are going to get for these heads? Doing the math you are going to need push rods, springs and cam at minimum and cam alone would be atleast 225$ + another $140-200 for the others.

^^ I agree, save up more money and do it right. I don't see the cash flow as it is.

I figured that I would get around $400-$450 for them. Then I can buy a cam package for around $600.

Is it every 10 thousandth's removed bump's half a compression point or full compression point?

Be careful buying from this guy I bought a c5 auto transmission from him that was supposed to be good with only 38k miles and it was junk. $900 dollar lesson learned.. $600 for junk transmission and $300 for converter cut and clean.

Ok, you can bash me all you want !! But that trans worked PERFECT when it left here! Never had any problems and only 33,000 miles on it( I have the title to prove it). Don't know what you did or didn't do but the problem happened on your side.

No I'm right on. I had a zo6 cam and some home ported 5.3's with bigger valves and a BBK intake make 385 before the tune and just over 400 with a tune. Car ran high 11's and trapped 118.

Switched to a F14 cam and made 450

yea what ever the trans was junk there are 3 other members on this site that will vouch the transmission was junk when it was installed. ill get them to come in here also. if you don't believe me ask bad chad or invincible z. check my trader rating also. its the principle of getting screwed i don't like. the $600 i paid you is a drop in the bucket I'm not hurting for money. i will try to keep you from screwing any one else. if any one else is interested i bought the trans from his part out thread

Yes that transmission is was JUNK! When the transmission was installed the fluid was burnt. Its does not take a rocket scientist to install a transmission, the stall was also new so that was not the cause. How about call LMR(713-466-9900) here in Houston and ask Joe about the trans, he looked at the tune to ensure there was nothing wrong there. When you call tell him it was for the transmission in Franks Red Vette...

The only SOB on here is you! You sold a fucked up transmission and now you do not want to man up!

The trans is screwed. It was installed in Frank's car, taken down the road and it slipped in every gear. Not a good thing!
