Where should my Idle be?
Just got a 98 z28, im very new to the ls1 motor i think imight be idling a bit high. I first would like to know what the normal idle is for these ls1 motors, because if its much lower than what im at now, im still under a warrenty so i can take it in. hopefully nothing is wrong, i just bought it.
thanks guys

Re: Where should my Idle be?
Mine idles at around 1100rpm. That seems much higher than the 750 stock. I know that tach isn't the most accurate, but that seems like a lot to be off. Is there anyway to bring it down without LS1edit?? Or does it really matter?? It doesn't seem to hurt much. BTW I have a 6-speed, just in case you didn't see the sig.

Well without tuning no. Unless its a sensor off that is making it idle higher. You could take it the dealership and tell them to flash the computer, someoen before you may have changed something.

zeequick, im having a similar problem. im not idleing quite that high, im steady at 900 rpms. I'm taking it to the dealer in a few days to make sure to get it fixed. Hopefully i can do this really soon, ill post when i find out what it is perhaps it would help you out.

Re: Where should my Idle be?
1100 isn't so bad. Mine idled at 300 for a bit. Then I figured out that some dirt or dust had gotten into the plug for the MAF connection and problem solved once I cleaned it out. I've had the problem creep back on me once, I'm still thinkin about some electrical contact cleaner on the MAF wires.
