Default No low end power?

How's it going everyone? Unfortunately I have another newb question for everyone. It seems that i have no low end power from a stop. I put peddle to the floor from a stop and it might chirp the tires but that's about it. I changed the fuel filter and still no difference. Still pulls hard from 40 on but I really don't understand why it doesn't go sideways? It used to bark the tires going into second at 50. I have only had the car a few months so I don't really know what kind of power to expect? BTW it is a 1998 T/A automatic with 2.73's. Thanks for the help and sorry for the typical newb questions.

P.S. only mod is SLP LM2

Well your a automatic with 2.73 gearing, what do you expect? lol Anyways though, usually those gears are very slow off the line, they will hook better obviously but wont be a instant pull like the higher gears.

No I haven't. I will pick up a set of plugs tomorrow... But is it likely that this would account for this much of a change in performance?

Alright so I shouldn't expect much of a burnout with that stock gearing? lol just making sure it's normal. I suppose I am just being too paranoid

I am sure we have different tires, but if I go pedal to the floor from a stop my 2.73s let me spin the crap out of my tires. Of course then I have my wheel hop issue, and let off.

You could still spin them fine but if you switched to say 3.73s or just changed it to the 3.23s that I believe alot of the autos had it would wakeup ALOT. My friends auto had 2.73s and it felt like a completely different car, I hated it, it felt SO slow compared to my m6 with the stock 3.42s.

I've driven my buddies 3.23 car, and it felt better, but I really do enjoy my 28-30mpg highway. Still think I am going to 3600-3800 stall it, see what happens.

Have you tried Power-Braking? Most don't recommend this, but if it will help get this "Burnt-Out" stage out of your system, by all means. :p

i think before you start doing anything, you should restore the performance of your car. you should do a full tune up.

plugs, wires, buy a gallon of stp carb cleaner and run it through the motor. then change the oil. im sure you have a shitload of carbon buildup.

do a full tune up as mentioned above, a stock fbody should light up the tires regardless of its gears...

hell, even my v6 automatic spun its one rear tire all the way through 1st gear...

i am stressing NOT to add any mods until you get your car running properly. do not cover up a poor running motor with mods. the carb cleaner is key. pour it into the intake after the MAF and rev the **** out as your pouring it in. I bet that alone will get you 85% back to how your car ran normally.

I just got done changing fluids today (oil, gear oil, tranny) and decided to check air filter. Upon opening the lid i saw a seal right in front of the MAF had come loose. It was what connected the lid to the MAF. Sealed it to its original position. Seems to run better but could that account for that much? it was an inch gap right into the engine bay. No air flow? Anyway just glad I didn't drive like that too long. Couldn't have been like that too long though..

Sorry and my Traction control is not on... Is the carb cleaner a safe solution?
