what the best oil filter u are all use ?

I like the K&N Performance Gold, as it flows much better than other commonly available filters. Flow is much more critical in a hard driven engine than trying to filter out the tiniest particle. The K&Ns are built like tanks too, their shell is so strong you would need to hit a boulder before they would puncture.

I used to use the UPF series from GM till they stopped making them.

Now I stick with M1 fliters.

They still make the UPF44 actually, the Corvette owners got together and protested enough that AC Delco agreed to continue this filter. I believe they also still make the UPF52 also (the large filter for the 3.8 engine so you could use it on your Bonneville!)

Where do you get them, at the dealer?

I don't think GM dealer's sell them. If one of our sponsors here can't get them, then check out Corvetteforum, as there are a lot of people on there who would know where to get them from.

i work in an autoparts store and have seen the tests. for flow and filtration the k&n and the pureone are almost the exact same. but the k&n seems a little better built. so it's all about personal choice. The pure one seems to be the choice for show cars cuz of the anodized blue color as the k&n seems to be used a bit more on the higher performance cars.

But the pureone saves you about 5 bucks

The PureONE doesn't flow nearly as well as the K&N oil filter does. It's media is very densely packed in order to trap smaller particles, so it's flow rating is only about 3-5GPM, while the K&N flows 12-16GPM, quite a considerable difference. I've seen independant tests which show a very high restriction to flow from the PureONE, while the K&N flows very well.

Great info Patman, Thanks!! I didn't know you could still get the UPFs at all these days. And good idea about looking for the UPF for my bonneville as well, I didn't know they ever made a UPF to fit the 3800 motors.

Patman, one more question, remeber a while back you told me that GM stopped making the PF44 for a updated filter with a new number? Can you get that new updated filter in a UPF series as well, or just the UPF44? And why would they even make the UPF44 but not the PF44 these days?
