2002 ws6
Hey guys I'm in need for some feedback and or suggestions on a 2002 WS6 Trans AM I'm looking into buying. Like I said, it's a 2002 with 28k original miles, M6, bone stock other then a Hurst Short Shifter he had installed at the factory during the time of purchase, pretty much flawless inside and out. Engine bay is clean enough to eat off of.
I guess my question of main concern is, are these LS1 motors fairly reliable? Coming from having a Opti Spark you can see where I am coming from The price is right for the car and I am wanting something more reliable/maint free (for the most part) Just curious how these WS6 LS1's have held up over the years.
Thanks for any feedback! If you want to suggest any performance mods that would be appreciated as well being I haven't done much research on that area yet. Like what LT's to go with, exhaust, heads, MS3 or something else...

As long as the car is taken care of it'll last a very long time.
Just wait and see how much more performance parts are for the LS compared to the LT platform

It has been taken well care of and garaged it's whole life. Oil changes done when needed as well. Engine is is perfect shape with no dirt/grim on anything. I know the mods are going to be a step up in price as they should be being it's a superior motor over the LTx. You get what you pay for right

IMO, the LS series engines are the most reliable motors GM has ever come out with (3800 motor is great too and close runner up) and as long as you don't beat on it all the time it should last a LONG time. My 98 TA has 250K miles and is original- it doesn't use any fluids and still pulls great!! Put it this way, it's much better than your LT1 motor and you will be happy with it

Yup very reliable, I learned how to drive a stick shift in mine, stalled it and hit the rev limiter more times than I can count then my uncle taught be how the dump the clutch and light the tires up lol.
Everything has held up fine except the 10 bolt which was expected given all the abuse I put it through. My drivers side window motor is the only annoying problem I keep having.
My old Lt1 was a nightmare that left me stranded on several occasions but it sure did sound good.

I've had my ls1 2001 ws6 for 9 years, raced it at the track for 3 years (stock except tune, muffler, and lid) never had one thing wrong with it until now....and that was a rodents fault So I would have to give it a very high reliablity rating!
