General Concensus is they are a waste of money, unless you need new coils anyway and want them to be red.

I hear the truck coils are a better bet. A few people have shown gains, others have argued they do nothing. But they can be had for about $150 - $200 rather than $800

They're not better than the stock ones. Just red.

Cool thanks guys I'm going 2 do a tune up on my TA and was thinking of buying them but someone has them for 450 new on here is it still a waste of $ or should I just buy stockers. If so where should I get the stock ones from ?

Shouldn't be anything wrong with yours. Coils on an LS1 are not something that really need to be maintained if your not having specific problems with them.

put them on my '01,and on the pasenger side the rear coil pack wears right through your heater core hose, because of poor design, and being too big..NOT worth the money,or the hassles.also,if 1 coil goes bad(which they do)you HAVE to replace it w/ another MSD,or you will throw a computer code..usually singles are a 120-plus.been there, done that..

I hear alot of people say that they "hear" they are no good, but none of them have tried them. I have 2 sets, one on my 2001 Camaro and the other on my lsx'd swap 95 silverado and have never had a problem. But, to be honest I just bought them of the looks.

do not replace your coils with any other coil (msd, truck, ect) unless there is something wrong with the ones you have...there is no gain period and you're just pissing away money

if you really are OK with that send me $200 and I'll send you some red coil packs

I've run them for years without problem ... and I run away from my competition. It's just one of the little things that add to the all motor equation. I run wires and plugs, among other things, that most won't pay the price for either.

The stock LS1 coilpacks are capable of producing 4 times more energy than the optispark of the LT1. The stockers are overkill for just about every setup, and the MSD's are really only for looks. People can claim yes I bolted them on my car and got these higher numbers but comparison dynos are not dated anywhere near each other. Same fuel/air with an increase of ignition won't do a damn thing. Keep your stockers fella and put the money into something more productive in my opinion. Hey you could have 150 shot or cam minus the tune for price of those.

Would you fellas agree that it might help if your motor had a power adder such a as a turbo/supercharger setup.. or even running with a bottle?

just a thought..

Truthfully I really don't think it would still matter. The stockers are easily capable of performing the job. Now if you where running something bigger than an 88mm turbine or fully boosted F1A then might start to questioning it. Your talking about ALOT of damn power though.
