Default Engine Coolant Temp. Sensor

I put '01 241 heads on my 98 camaro. My car has a 3 wire plug for my engine coolant sensor and the new head takes a 2 wire plug sensor. Is there an adapter so I can use my factory plug and a 98 sensor?

Would splicing in a 2 plug wire pigtail work if I used a 99+ coolant temp sensor?

Just move your '98 sensor over to the 241 heads and saver yourself all that headache! They have the same thread size so your sensor will work perfectly.

That was my original problem, my 98 sensor was either too small or too big for the 241 hole on the front driver side head.

Make sure you're trying to put it into the correct hole also...that hole was the same size for ALL of the LS1/2/6/92/etc heads! So unless yours was machined out or something (can't think of a good reason why that would be the case), it should work perfectly.

Well, I checked again today at Oreilly's and I had them pull a 98 coolant sensor and an 01 coolant sensor and both had different size threads. The 01 was a lot smaller. So I am stumped. Unless they have the wrong part number? Maybe they are pulling a V6?? But other than that I do not understand how no one else has this problem. Do not wanna spend a ton of money and hassle for an autometer...

If they pulled them and they had different threads, they looked it up wrong or it was boxed wrong. We have WAY too many heads coming in and out of here daily not to be sure on this!

I think the dealer is the only place that stocks '98 style sensors. I've heard others complain of not being able to get this part over-the-counter from local stores.
