Default breather filter instead of oil cap on pullout

Does anyone know who makes this kit?

It came on my 02 camaro SS pullout and I am trying to figure out if this is a good/smart option to leave on there? The stock PCV system is still in place (was going to do the pcv upgrade from that sticky link, where it is on here) and this looks like it was just installed instead of an oil cap (which btw this filter pops in/out very easily)... Whats LS1Tech's .02 on the matter?

ps - to my newb eyes it would seem that the TB would suck in unmetered air as the stock pcv is still in place (hooked up to the TB) which would pull a vacuum at WOT and similar.

hmmm do you know if your heads or anything are dirtier on your car on that side? They all seemed to be dirtier on that side when I was replacing valve cover gaskets and similar and I didn't know if that was just typical from the pcv setup or because the breather lets moisture or crap in or something... thanks for your post!

Restoring my 92 Nissan 240sx hatchback (lightest one i think... no sun roof, roll up windows, manual doors, no ABS, stripped rear - no rear seat/buckles/etc) and dropping it in that (re-headlined it, put in new carpet, redyed the carpeted panels/glove box/visors black instead of the nasty tanish/dirty gray, took out about a thousand lbs in shale hard adhesive/fur sound-deadener =P and re-sound deadened it, etc)... Build thread will be up on silviav8 soon enough. Its semi ls1 related, just didn't want to post up this huge 240sx restore since this really isn't a nissan forum and get flamed or something. I am waitin for steve (frost) to get back from a tuning trip (mail order tune) and waiting for the wiring to come back from SIKKY and it should fire up next week and be ready to rock. Engine will be out tonight and LS1/t56 will be in by this weekend wiating on those last 2 items. I am just not a "make ya wait a month" while I build it kinda guy. When the builds done, I'll post up everything at once from start to end. My whole plan is that if there are 3600lb firebirds and similar lasting 200k+ miles, this car should be pretty reliable DD at 1000lbs less approx to haul around (not an LS, but even my dad's 6.0L v8 yukon has 178k miles on it without ever having a problem in its life). That and if a C5 vette can get 28-31mpg highway and this is 300-500lbs lighter, it should do well on MPGs too since I am out here in the country and its 80/20 highway/city driving. Just making a nice, fun DD. Thanks!

yeah they're very reasonable to build price wise... traded harnesses and harness bar for the car, so technically its free. Hard to pull that off with an FD or similar HB kinda car =\ they're way prettier/nicer, but budget constraints suck
