99 Mods list
I have a 98 Z A/4 car. Has about 213,xxx miles on it and it runs fine, still knocks down 17-20 around town, but its time I get to making a few changes.
So far I've done exhaust, long tubes and a magna flow cat back(w/o the cat) a lid, and the free stuff. I got PACKED last night by a new 5.0 on the way home from work last night so that sent me on a mission.
I'm thinking heads and cam. Dont want to go to radical cause I drive it every day. What do you guys think of an LS6 cam? Intake?
Let me know what you guys would start off with mod wise.
Thanks
Charlie

First thing on your list should be a 3600 stall. Period. Heads and cam together would not help you as much as a stall. Get a tight one like the Yank SS series and you still will get great mileage.
Next will be tires, ls6 intake, and then I would consider a cam in the 224-228 range. I would consider the ls6 cam a waste of time, but I'm sure someone might disagree.

start out with a LS6 intake pp tb and a ud pulley that should set you back 600-700$ and get you about 20 hp also do you have a lid those are real cheap 50-100
a stall would be after that IMO a stall is gonna cost 5-600+tranny cooler
213k thats impressive, whats been replaced?

The low water sensor, 3 times its unpluged now, the rear bumstops, plugs and wires, and an o2 sensor. I'm normally a ford guy, dont shoot me! But this LS1 has been the best small block I've ever owned. I liked it so much I got my wife an 04 Denali in 05. Have'nt had any issues with it either.
U think I need to get it to inhale better since I already have longtubes on it? What about a mass air meter too?

an ls6 intake will help...but only about 10rwhp, maybe 15 if you're on the high end of average and should be a mandatory mod but if you have to pick its not the best choice
a stall on the other hand is going to let you launch HARD and from a roll will keep the engine buried in its power range
I gained .6 and 2 mph in the 1/8 mile spinning with a stall and nitto drag radials, to get that kind of gain from something else you are going to be looking for 50-60 hp
I got mine on this site used for $450, best money I've spent on the car yet

I guess since its an older LS1 the intake might make a difference. Allright I'm doing the stall search now.
Thanks guys. I'll let you know how the search is coming along.

I can 100% agree with the guys about the stall. I own an m6, but my buddy just stalled his camaro with a 3600 stall, and goddamn it rips now. I suggest a 3600 minimally. It will help a shitload, but dont forget some DR's! Before he got his stall I read everywhere on this site "stall should be the first mod" blah blah, i never really believed it was that important, just assumed people were stall nutswingers. But after seeing my buddys car after the stall... f*** me man everyone was right. Get a stall!

I got a yank 3600 and like udienow said i heard and heard how good it was. It is that big of a difference!! So i would agree focus on a stall. Is your car still on the stock trans? Might be enough to kill a 200k+ trans or it could last for ever
