do the ls1 427 have distributor problem
Just got an ls1 motor that i'm planning on stroking to 427. Me and a buddy was talking to an old timer about the build and he told me not to build that motor because they have a problem with snapping the distributor do to the stress of that motor. Told me i need to build an older motor. It was the first I heard of this and want to know is that common or is he just not wanting me to build that motor.

it is my understanding the ls1 stroker kits stay under 400 ci without having the block bored and sleeved which is discouraged by most builders
pretty sure the 427 kits are for larger lsx engines but I could very well be wrong

thunderstruck said it best. Pick up a few books. browse a few forums, and get in touch with a few sponsors that sell kits. 427 is not a good idea on a ls1 block. Chevy ls1 / ls6 v8s is a good one as is the newer editions for the 04+ motors.

or shoot for a 383 stroker kit for your ls1 block, good set of heads and cam with all the bolt ons and it will be healthy
what are your goals for the car?

it a longblock out of a 97 vette it works but don't know how many miles on the motor and want to build a nice street machine to compete with some buddies that drive Fords that running pretty good.
