Default What color is the stock MAF for s 99 SS

i bought a 99 SS from the 2nd owner (an older gentlmen) and he stated the car was bone stock. when i start getting into the car i notice that it had a skip shift eliminator, k&n filter, flowmaster, free mods, and the MAF was descreened. the MAF is black in color and from some pics of other stock ls1's, i see that there silver in color (aluminum or some type of other metal). so i'm wonder is this is a stock MAF?

All LS1 F-bodies came with the same MAF stock, and it included black ends with an aluminum (silver) center section.

If that is not what you have, then it's not the original one.

Haha!! Wow, I must've been really hung over when I wrote that. I'm sorry, I completely transposed that information. What I said was 180° off.

It's the ends that are aluminum (silver) and the center section that's black, on a stock MAF. Not sure what was wrong with me earlier.

Can you post a pic of the entire MAF? Maybe we can determine which one it is with some pics.

It may be a GM replacement MAF from the dealership.

I had a stock MAF go bad and needed a replacement asap so I went to the dealership and the replacement I ended up with was a solid black plastic piece instead of the sandwiched metal piece that came stock. If you look into it, it might have thick plastic housing around the MAF wires. Not the greatest thing in the world when it came to airflow.
