Default back firing

What would make a. Cammed motor back fire when going down the highway and let off the gas.

The Cam may not necessarily be causing it. I've read about bad Air Check valves on the AIR lines that run into the exhaust manifold causing it too.

Something to consider

It's just started doing it. Didn't when I first got it.

sounds like maybe a tuning issue. but do not let it do it very long as the pistons are going to suffer.

I'm in the works to get it retuned cause of cam and motor swap now just need to get this a c work done before I do. Tentioner on a c is bad. Can't find just that on here anywhere and parts house wants 80 bucks for it. I'm not paying that

You think it's the engine backfiring or just the exhaust "Splatting"? F-bodys are known to "splat" sometimes, especially when the motor is colder.

maybe it is over rich and raw fuel is combusting in the exhaust.

That's what I think. It's still on the old tune the 5.7 that was in it had a bigger cam.
