Default LS1 Dyno Results

OK,

I bought my car in November of 2003. It was a 2001 SOM Z28 with 16K miles on it and it was completely bone stock. I took the car to site sponsor MIKE DEZ RACING in Seekonk MA to have the car dynoed. Bone stock the car made 295 RWHP, 278 RWHP SAE corrected. Not bad. So I ordered a lid, filter, and Magnaflow catback. Today I brought the car back to DEZ RACING to install the mods and then get the dyno results. Here are the results from today with 22,865 on th odometer (all numbers are SAE corrected):

Bone stock run made 270 RWHP (it was warmer today than it was for the first stock run, so that explains the drop)

Installed LS1 motorsports lid and Holley Powershot filter and the car made 276.9 RWHP and 308.7 Torque

Installed the Magnaflow catback and the car made.......312.5 RWHP and 335.7 Torque!!!!!

So the Magnaflow catback added 35.6 RWHP and 27 ft/lbs of trque!!!

I was amazed at how much of a gain I saw from the catback and it looks and sounds amazing too! At $315 for the catback, that's $8.85 per HP and $11.67 per ft/lb of torque....awesome bang for the buck.

The uncorrected numbers were 323.7 RWHP and 347.7 ft/lbs of torque. I am very happy and if anyone is trying to decide on a catback these numbers should sway you towards the Magnaflow.

The guys at DEZ Racing are awesome and really love to work on the cars, so anyone in the Southeastern MA or Rhode Island area should definitely give them a call. I have the dyno graphs for evidence if there are any doubters, but I don't have a scanner so I can't scan them in just yet.

I wouldn't attribute all to the Catback.
That's way higher than normal(around 10)
Maybe the A/F got better with the lid
and exhaust.

There is no possible way the cat-back added 35 rwhp, thats impossible. Those numbers for all the mods combined would be about right, but not 35 from just a cat-back. Good numbers though at the end

good #s for a lid filter and catback, but I'll agree it's probably a combo of the 3 that attributed for the 35 hp gain, not just the exhaust alone. Either way, some good #s

every dyno is different. are those SAE corrected? Take a minute and overlap all dyno runs so we can see whats really going on. And the a/f too.

Maybe your car was pig rich before and the lid/catback brought it back str8.

all the numbers are SAE corrected. Once I get access to a scanner I will get a printout of all of the runs on the same graph and scan the chart in.

I did 3 runs:

Run 1: bone stock.....270 RWHP

Run 2: lid and filter installed.....276.9 RWHP (+6.9 RWHP over stock)

Run 3: lid, filter, and Magnaflow catback installed.....312.5 RWHP (+35.6 over lid and filter alone)

All numbers are SAE corrected. Maybe you are correct that it was all 3 in combination that created the huge jump, but i did dyno right after lid and filter, and then again after the catback was installed.

As far as the air fuel ratio I have the printout here for the lid and filter run, and the lid, filter and catback run. The lid and filter air fuel ratio was at 14.8 from 2800 RPM until 3300 RPM, then it dropped to 13 and it stayed there until the end. The run after the catback was installed didn't start recording until 4400 RPM but the air fuel ratio was at 12.5 from then until the end.

Considering how low your stock figures were
maybe there was something wrong with
the stock parts in fitment or defect.

maybe there was something wrong with the stock parts. I had it dynoed once In January when I brought it in to have SFCs installed and it put down 278 RWHP SAE corrected, 295 uncorrected, but it was about 25 degrees out that day. I thought those numbers were pretty average for a stock LS1 or right in line with the norm.

Today I dynoed it stock again and got 270 RWHP SAE corrected (didn't get the uncorrected #) but it was also probably in the 40's today temperature wise. This figure was a little low but not outrageously low.

Regardless I am happy with the final results. 2 pulls on the dyno with lid, filter, and magnaflow catback: 311.9 RWHP and 312.5 RWHP!

I gotta agree that the magnaflow is one badass exhaust system... when I put mine on I definately noticed the power gain.
My car has pretty much same mods as you, look at sig

Everyone is right. The catback didn't produce 35rwhp. Who cares where the power came from though...as long as it's there!
