Default 243 heads

2000 full bolt ons, cammed but stock heads I keep seeing 243 heads for sell are they a big enough upgrade over stock ls1 heads? Or should I go with something eles?

i prefer something else but theyre also a good option if you get them ported.

15 more hp/tq for $400.$150 for a head swap kit.also look at 799 heads.what is you budget ?

I got a set of 799 heads off ebay for 350 new. you should check it out

^ Yep... plus, the prices for those damn things is just plain ******* ridiculous... people think theyre gold. You might find 799s but the word it out on those as well.... also, 799s are the same port design i believe but they dont have the same oem springs and valves.. 243s have sodium valves I believe.. 799s dont but Im not 100% sure...

Z06's had sodium valves in the 243's beginning in 2002, they were rated at 405hp. The 2001 Z06 did not have sodium valves and had a slightly different cam as I recall, they were rated at 385hp. The lighter valves rev a little higher.
