Default Can i use either of these trannys with an LM7?

I found a couple of trannys for sale locally, but they are from older cars. So I'm wondering if I could mate them up to my LM7, and what kind of power these older trans can take.

First one is: 1992-1996 LT1-42F Six speed Corvette transmission Blue lable
Is this a T56? Issues with using it? I'm guessing this will need a rebuild. Anyone on here ever do a rebuild on 1 of these? How involved is it, and how much are the rebuild kits?

Second one is: a T56 from a 94 Camaro. The ad says it only has 2k miles on it, which seems odd for a 94. But my main question is will it mate up with the LM7.

Thanks for your thoughts!

the bell housings are different, the shafts are different.... I suppose if you threw enough money at it, you could make anything work but to my knowledge these arent considered interchangeable.. try finding a t56 from an ls motor...

those older trannys were made by borg warner but are now made by tremec... as of 98.... this is where the change happened I believe but dont quote me on it..

Yea you would have to change input shaft on that LT1 T56 in order to mate it to the 3rd generation lm7

for the money you would spend making that old t56 work, you could just swap in a newer one that would not need a rebuild...

Thanks for the input guys. After looking at costs for all the supporting parts, I might just look into a conversion kit. I need everything since it's going in a 67 Camaro. Doesn't look like I could piece together any cheaper than a kit.

If you have fabrication skills and equipment you can. Kits are crazy expensive. Check out out the conversion section of this site theres more than one 1st gen camaro with a t56.

I can do some fab, but I'd like to learn more. I thought the retrofit kits were pretty pricey too. But I checked some prices for clutch disc, pressure plate, flywheel, throwout bearing, and bellhousing and it adds up to about $1600. Then every used LS1 compatible T56 I've seen is about $2000. So it looks like I'd be about $3500 or more in with a used transmission and still needing a shifter, crossmember, clutch apply, driveshaft, and other odds and ends. That's why I started considering a kit. But checking out the other builds in the conversions section is a great idea. I have checked some of them out already, but I'll look for more tranny specific details.
