Default What does the term "stroker" mean?

I have seen in videos where people have say a 408 cubic inch ls1. How exactly do you do that? What is needed?

stroking is changing the diameter center of the main journal of a crank shaft, giving it a longer throw...

there are several ways to get that particular displacement, bigger bore and longer stroke.. the formula is

Bore squared x stroke x .7854 ( same as Pi/4) = cylinder displacement...

multiply CID x # of cylinders...

increase bore to 4.030 and stroke to 4.0 = 408.17 CID

So in other words it would be more worth it to get a LSx 6.0 iron block from TSP? Can you even just put in a LSx block into it without any problems? Possible or not?

All depends on what you want to do with the car, and how much you want to spend. An iron block is obviously heavier than the stock aluminum block, so theres one factor to consider.

Into what?

Thats double the price of the 6.0 LSx but i guess it stronger and worth it in the long run. What do you mean exactly but its not that strong? Would the engine blow or something?

lots of people use the 4.030/4.0 combo for the 408 and have outstanding results. Of course ANY time you mod or increase the power of any motor, you shorten its lifespan.. remember.. cheap, fast, reliable. pick two.

You will not get an ls1 block to 4.030 without having it re sleeved.

Start with an ls2 block if you must have aluminum for a 402 cube engine.
