98-99 lid on an 02 camaro
I ordered a lid for my car. But, I ordered the wrong one! So my question is, what are the implications if I just plug the hole instead of fabricating a connection for the hose? Which way is better?

You can just attach a small breather filter to the AIR system line rather than connecting it to the lid. This is how all of us had to do it in the early days, before SLP made a lid that had a provision to plug in the AIR system line like stock.

^ This. The AIR system isn't complicated. It just uses the lid to pull in fresh air. All you gotta do is put a filter on the air pump's inlet, like a little oil breather and you're good to go.
I wouldn't worry.

You can't do that unless you delete the AIR system, in which case there would be no hose to plug anyway. If you need that system operational for emissions testing purposes, it won't operate properly with the inlet hose plugged.
Edit:
If I understood the OP correctly, he ordered a '98-'99 lid for his '02 car, which means there shouldn't be any hole in the lid to plug - if that's what you meant. The only "hole" that would need to be dealt with is the open inlet hose for the AIR system.

I think there may be some confusion in this thread though. There is no extra hole to plug on a '98-'99 lid, because they never had a provision for an AIR connection. The extra hole would be in the '00-'02 lid, and would only be a problem if you were trying to put an '00-'02 lid on a '98-'99 car.
But you can easily put a '98-'99 lid on a '00-'02 car by simply using a breather filter in the AIR inlet hose (or by just deleting AIR).

There was a hole in the lid for the AIR hose. They sent a cap with the lid to plug the hole. I ended up installing it last night and routing the hose around behind the headlight. I am wondering, since there was a hole for the AIR system, is they make a piece that fits in that hole with a rubber grommet or something.

I don't know if they would sell the '00+ hardware separate from the lid though. You could ask them, or maybe you could make something on your own. Or, you could just get something like that K&N #1030 breather to fit the hose and leave it as-is.
