You can use the cam but spring, pushrod, and tune required to make any use of it. Also need timing chain and in most cases a oil pump replacement.

without doing any other mods, such as bolts ons your not even going to get half the power of the cam, you will gain a lil though but i dont know why someone would pay to do a cam/springs n rods/oil pump etc and not get the most out of it, you might just be happy doing bolt ons and a mail order tune

Well what I can say is not all cam require bolt ons, he will just not get te optinum power. There cams out there like the cheaTR cam uses stock manifolds. Thge O/P has to state whether he is trying to be stealth or has a small budget. Answers tailored accordingly.

get the right springs for the cam you do choose, and get harden push rods if you get a aftermarket cam.a ls2 timing chain cost $40.

IMO I would do bolt-ons first then do the cam. It really doesn't make sense to do all that work and get 50% of the cams capability. Anytime I do a cam I always upgrade the timing chain and springs and pushrods. If its worth doing its worth doing right.

why increase the exhaust output with the cam, with the stock restrictive exhaust. go with a set of headers, and a cheap catback and then get the cam pack. and dont forget to upgrade the chain while you are in there. you will need new gaskets for everything you can remove. it can be done in about 2-3 hours on a TA.

I would definitely do a lid, P&P TB before you do the cam at the very least. And I would recommend the cheatR cam or something along those lines where its meant for a somewhat stock car. But honestly I wouldn't expect a ton, What kind of gains are you looking for?

personally, for a daily driver, id recommend doing all the bolt ons before a cam. you will end up making about the same power with all bolt ons vs no bolt ons + cam.

you will need a tune with most cam swaps .frost dose mail order tunes for a great price.he can do a great tune for a tr224 ,it is a very popular cam.do you ever plan on running headers.
