Default GTO's are they selling????

GTO had 606 deliveries for February sales report.

link to figures for GM, click me!

Will GTO pick up in sales? And, with 606 deliveries, how many were sold?

Quote from link which I beleive interesting to note:
"Chevrolet Corvette (2,382), which was up 38 percent."

Could that have anything to do with low GTO sales and no F-Body?

Default saw my first GTO in person...

just drove by Pontiac and saw a yellow "GTO" in the showroom - all the pics I have seen have not done justice to what a horrible job they did with this car. never thought I'd see a RWD LS1 Sunfire, but there it was. Sales should be about the same as that Aztek POS they put out.

I agree the interior is nice, but that's like saying the fat girl has a nice personality. It doesn't help much.

There is one at my local chevrolet dealership show room its a black one. I think it looks ok but I have not gone to look at the inside. I also saw a 18 wheeler with a car hauler trailer full of GTO's on I-10 headed probly to a dealership.

yeap, that's actually a very good comparison.

..but under the skin the car is great ...I guess that's why they actually sold 606
...if only it got LS6 - all those marketing games with engines - that's what I hate most ...+ reliability questions pending

Here's the last GM muscle car that failed in sales, it was a plain, fat, two door that had more than a passing resemblence to a Chrysler Concorde coupe (or a four eyed, big mouth bass with four wheels), and it cost a good deal of money...

AND, for near $30K, it netted one this total disaster on the inside,

Good thing they blacked the picture out, it's scary in full-light conditions.

Oh but it had and LS1!

Like previously said in this thread, "that's like saying the fat girl has a nice personality"

The GTO isn't meant to be, nor will it be a high volume sales car.

It's a higher class muscle/gt car more fit to do battle in it's class and more in tune with today's market realities. And it has the attention of a lot of people who want muscular performance and styling/driving sophistication who would otherwise not considered an American branded car.

The pontiac dealer in Madison, TN had 4 on the lot and they have been there at least 2 months. The salesman who sold me my WS6 four years ago said they were pretty bad. They won't sell by looks , you have to get them to drive it to sell it he said. My reply was well if one pulls up next to me when I'm in my WS6 I'll spank his azz.

Ummmm..............nah.

Ummmm..............nah.

Ummmm..............nah. And for "near" $30,000, you get a loaded SS, not a plain red Z28.

Oh, so you get a more expensive plain Concord that has a cute little hole in the hood and SS badging! And you can dress up that creaky Korean quality plastic interior by painting some of the trim yourself! Totally classy!

LMAO

And if you can do all those things to dress up your Camaro, why then could you not do the same for a GTO? Soon enough, there will be a strong aftermarket for them and modded GTOs should be a big enough step in the right direction to shut some of you crybabies up.

Classy enough for Porsche and BMW....... classy enough for me. And it's funny that you say that when the GTO interior IS painted in some places......

I'm not the one in an '80s box with the same Korean quality plastic interior and two cylinders missing.... Honestly, you can't talk about appearance when you're a Buick fan.

Because the GTO is a Cavalier...

And I never said anything about the GTO in the first place. Apart from the styling, they're great. But there is a point of no return for how much appearance mods can help, and the GTO would most likely just look like a "ricer" if you started to mess with appearance stuff. It's just too bland of a body shape to do anything with it.

Nobody said you can't, people have been doing it to muscle cars since muscle cars were created.

I'm just enjoying myself fighting fire with fire.

Oh I agree on both counts concerning the Camaro.

It's a Concord and Cavalier love child, a 3rd gen. Camaro GM stylists stuck an air pump in to bloat it up nice and round, a good forgettable shape people have already been ricing out for years already.

I'm not the one in a 2002 bloated Catfish on wheels.

My 1987 box, unlike your 2002 archaic turd was a decade or better ahead of it's time, doesn't have an interior festooned with shiny, chintzy plastic (real metal steering wheel, switches, door handles, and trim, soft touch surfaces), a six speaker sound system, a real back seat and trunk, and no glaring examples of shoddy engineering like that lovely hump in the passenger side floor of the F-bodies, or poor workmanship like those front fenders that often don't mate with the side mirrors they're styled to flow into. The last F-bodies drive like they were still engineered in the 1960s.

Honestly, you can't really talk down on much of anything if you're a 4th gen. Camaro fan.
