For hp gains:

Lid first, best hp gain for the $
Then exhaust, long tubes/off road y/ catback
Then ls6 intake,
Then heads and cam package
You'll also want a good stall converter

A4 will hold a fair amount of power, but don't forget your rear end sucks. It'll have a little easier life being behind the auto, but you still may want to look at replacing it and doing a gear swap

Torque Convertor. This will be the first mod I perform on my eventual purchase of an LSx powered Convertible Firebird Trans Am.

For now all I have are Manual Cars. But from everything I've read on this site, a Convertor swap will turn a Stock 4th Gen with an A4 into one fun Monster.

Slp Lid
LS6 intake, Ported throttle body or bigger one
Longtube headers and off road y pipe
Converter. For an A4, it makes a big difference
Rear end is fine for now. Don't worry about it. Just keep in mind they are weak.
EGR and AIR delete. Cruise and traction control delete. Ac if you don't need it.
Weight Reduction

I have a 2000 T/A, I've done lid, headers, cat back, ls6 manifold, ported throttle body, and dyno tune and it's a super fun daily driver, I tried to keep it as practical as I could while still having some comfortable power. If it's your daily driver or a nice weekend car don't delete your AC or any of that stuff and definitely keep your cruise control (what does deleting that do?), to me that's just ruining the car and depleting the value unless it's a drag car only. I've deleted my AIR and EGR only because I have headers and that's probably all I'll be deleting. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

Free ram air. You cut out the plastic of the lower air box that is in between the bumper and radiator.

Throttle body coolant bypass. Just search the DIY sections. You will find more.

oh and do some weight reduction.lol
