SLP Air Lid

SLP Air Lid
I have a 2001 LS1 engine in my 1999 . The engine has a LS6 intake as well as a cam, 600/610 and about a 240 duration , headers , y-pipe with high flow cats and 3" pipes. What kind of HP gain would I gain? and how good are SLP lids? I was told 10 to 15 on a stock engine and more with a cam and headers?

1-2rwhp for a lid? I think you might be surprised if you took the time to research the various dyno proof over the years. Gains usually average around 7-10rwhp for stock to bolt-on engines. With a cam or better, most people already have a lid at that point so there isn't much dyno information but, you can expect 15rwhp or possibly more.

Still a work in process , we have a few items to work out before we fire it up. It is winter here in Manitoba ,Canada so the car is going to sit in the garage until April which gives us lots of time to finish it. Installed are , UMI upper and lower a-arms + k-member , Strano sway bars, urethane motor and trans mounts Spec aluminum flywheel and stage 2 clutch Spohn torque arm, rear lower control arms and an adjustable panard bar. The car came lowered 1.5" with sub frame connectors and larger breaks. The car car came with Koni adjustable shocks and an aluminum drive shaft , added Spicer u-joints. Also installed a Milodon 7 quart road race oil pan , the remote oil filter kit does not like the Kooks headers.

You'll need either a heat gun or a hair dryer to get the lid onto your maf. It's a tight fit and you'll have to work at it with just a hair dryer, but it'll slide on. I would ditch the k&n and go buy a paper acdelco filter. Tons of threads about the oils from the k&n filter getting all over the maf sensor and causing issues. I'd get a can of maf cleaner and clean it, then throw the paper filter in and be done with it. Delco is the best paper filter for performance/keeping particles out vs the others.
I ran back to back passes at the track with the delco in and the next one I took it out. There was zero difference in et or trap and my car was within .004 of a tenth every pass it made when it was "cam only".

I agree K&N filters can mess with your maf , people tend to over oil them , the excess oil gets on the maf wires and trap dust on them and results in a bad signal from the maf.
