5.3/6.0
I'm new to the ls world and need some input on the 5.3s and 6.0s I'm looking to buy one of the two and wanna be able to get a quick street car with the set up. It'll go in a mustang.my buddy has a 2000 z28 lq9 swapped t56 with a cam and ls6 intake that runs 7.80s 1/8th mile I also seen a stock lq4 with a 150 shot run 6.74s in a mustang coupe I want a low 6s street car. The main stuff I want to do is custom cam roller rockers ported heads ported intake carbd probably unsure and a 150 shot which would be the better motor? How much does a factory 5.3 make at the flywheel and the same for a 6.0?

The 5.3 came in a few variations ranging from 285 to 320 HP. Same variations for the 6.0 ranging from 300 to 352. More cubes will always make it easier to make more power and get you to your goals. The one positive to running the 5.3 is that the thicker liners have better heat dissipation which is helpful when increasing cylinder pressure and heat that comes with running a power adder, but ultimately you want a street car so it should take less effort and be more streetable with more cubes. I'm building an 408 myself as a daily driver, but able to handle the spray when called upon.
