Default Rough Idle after tune?

Had my 02 TA WS6 tuned last week. Today I noticed it was idling rough. Only happens when the car is in drive. P,R,N are all okay, but once the car is in drive, it drops to 500rpm's, which runs fine, but then it gets rough and will vary between 4 and 500. Could this be a result of the tune? I only noticed it today.

02 LS1 with 65k miles, CAI, headers, 3in exhaust, catback, tune. Auto, stock other than those.

If it continues bring the car back to the tuner and have them fix it, take them along for a ride to show them the problem if you are able to.

So I took it back to Vengeance Racing (Sponsor), who did the tune. They assured me that it was NOT the tune. The vibrations are caused by the polyurathane motor mounts, but the idle dropping from 500 to 400 hasn't been explained.

Just got back from a cruise, drove 50 miles back out to my college and the whole way, the car had really bad backfiring. Anytime I started to accelerate from a stop or hit 1000-1500rpms it would pop REALLY loud. I just replaced the pass. 02 sensor last week because it had gone bad. Now I have rough idle AND backfiring.

To make it worse, if I hit that 1000-1500 rpm range while going uphill, the car kinda jerks, like it loses power, then regains power. Sparkplugs/wires could be the issue? Thoughts?

Sounds like you have a misfire, check the plugs and plug wires. I have had seemingly good and fairly new plugs cause misfire conditions on vehicles I have worked on before. Make sure a plug wire didn't burn itself on a header tube.

Please check plugs/wires as soon as possible. It sounds like a severe misfire issue.

I just talked with Mike about the issues you are describing above and he explained to me he only loaded a mail order/base calibration and that no datalogging was performed. This explains why we wouldnt catch something like this while you were here.

If you would like to come by for us to look things over do not hesitate to give me a call sir.

Ron

Yeah, I'm dropping it off at my mechanic while I leave for vacation because I have to have to car working tip top when I get back so I can take a roadtrip with my band.

I'm thinking (and hoping) it's a spark plug. Cheap iridium plugs + lots of hard driving make me think that that is the issue.

Thanks Ron, Mike did a great job. I was back a week or two ago, Mike looked at the car and gave me his opinion. I really appreciate you guys and Mike looking at it and offering to look at it. Everything was great for about 5 days after he tuned it and then this started, so I don't think it's specifically the tune. If it was, it would run like this from the beginning, right?

I've only owned the car for 4 months, so I'm assuming never. It's only got 66k miles on it. How often should that be cleaned?

Do you have an SES light, and if so, does it flash when the issues arise?

No SES light. Checked the spark plugs/wires today. Turns out the 4th cylinder (2nd cyl. on pass. side, right?) wire was basically off. I barely pulled it with my finger, and it slid right off. Got it plugged back in and it was like someone flipped a switch. Car started stronger, no rough idle, no backfiring. Went for a drive and everything is like butter again. Thanks for all the help guys!
