Default How to ID engine?

I am in the process of buying a 98 z28 camaro with a forged TMS lq9 370 with L92 heads. How can i verify that it is a 100% lq9. I am pretty sure that it is, but i want to be 100% sure. Are their any marking on the block that you can run from under the hood?

I think the block casting numbers are on the back of the block near the firewall.

Get the serial # off the block and we can verify all of the info. The serial # will be on the valley where the cover gasket goes.

The casting number is on the back of the motor under the drivers side head.

The casting number should be on the block itself

I am not exactly sure where that is at to be honest. Is it easily visible ? And do i have to remove anything to see it?

It is on the back of the block, and no, it isn't easy to get to. If you can find it this may tell you what you are asking.

The TMS serial # will be visible on the block under the throttle body on the metal in front of the valley cover. It will be a "I" followed by 4 numbers EX (I1146). PM that to us and we can get all of the info on the motor as it was assembled by us.
