Default Things to do during LT header install

So I just took delivery of ceramic coated Pacesetter lt headers along with the y pipe on order from Summit. I also ordered Prothane motor and transmission mounts and O2 extensions. Should I throw some plug wires and plugs in there as well? They look like a pain in the butt to do, but might be easier with the headers off? Anything else I should do while this thing is torn apart?

The Pacesetter Y-pipe has a shitty merge that needs some work.
I was able to cut a lot out with a small torch then welded 1\4" cold
roll to a carbide bit (24") and finished smoothing it out.

You have to pull the plug wires doing the headers, so you might as well replace those if they need it. The plugs will be staring you in the face once you pull the stock manifolds out, might as well replace those too.

BTW... it is very easy to repin the plug to the computer to use the rear O2 sensor harness for the front O2 sensors. You use your stock sensors this way (saving money) and your rear sensors can be saved for future use if you have a sensor go bad as they are the same. Search the forum, there is a great write up on swapping them. (this is assuming you are deleting the rear o2 sensors)

If you think your plugs and wires are fine then you don't have to replace them. With that said, they're not bad to do with long tubes. FWIW, I changed mine when I did my header install. I also did the mounts and went with header studs rather than the bolts. Lastly, the PaceSetter y-pipe has a horrible merge as has been mentioned. You're much better off going with a TSP or Speed Engineering y-pipe.

Is there a certain advantage/disadvantage to running without the rear O2 sensors? Won't removing them make the check engine light come on?

Thanks for the info fellas.

I had no problem installing my headers with the plugs installed first.

Yup, the CEL will come on and it won't run as perfectly as it could. That's why most people get a tune after doing full exhaust. You can either do a dyno tune or just get a mail-order tune (I personally went with the latter; got mine from Frost).

This is subjective... Some people complain that it causes some harshness, but I noticed absolutely no difference between stock and prothane.

I ordered MSD Super conductor plug wires and NGK IX iridium spark plugs, as well as the new gaskets.

I think that is enough spending for now... Lol

Thanks!
