Default LS1 vs LS6 intakes

How's it going. I work at a dealership and a 2001 corvette came in and i'm pretty sure it has the LS6 intake. I'll check the numbers tomorrow but I have a 2000 SS camaro and want to swap the intakes. My car is equipped with egr/air and my main question is if I switch the vette to the LS1 intake will it throw a code? I don't care about my car throwing a code because it's mine. I just don't want the car at the dealership throwing a code and making them spend money to fix the problem.

I don't think it will work because the vette won't have the right hookups. Also how exactly are you planning on doing this? Is this a customer car and you're just going to swap parts? Is it a wrecked car? Without more information this just sounds like a good way to get fired/sued.

The car has been traded in and is now in the back lot waiting to be wholesaled. I have permission from the owner of the dealership. I can take what I please as long as the car's in good working order when the wholesalers come to buy it.

Happens all the time. People always trading off same rims with better tires, interiors, etc. They don't care one bit because the car is going to someone for what they appraised it at. They come in and buy it for a few hundred bucks more. As long as it's in good working condition they wouldn't care less. I could beat the **** out of the car but I respect them way to much and I know someone will own it one day. But if it's not owned by anyone right now I wouldn't mind swapping a few parts lol.

yeah it's a common thing.
we do it in our (totally 100% different from automobiles) industry.
the sellers get lowballed so hard no one can possibly lose any money.
especially not the guys buying and selling, so why not let the worker bees get a little something here n there?

and that is how the commerce monster gets fed

It will work as long as you swap the cooling cross over also and put a plug where the egr tube enters the intake. Permission or not it would be pretty shitty for someone who doesn't know any better to buy a car with inferior parts. Just because it is going to auction doesn't mean it isn't going to someone not unlike yourself. Just my .02 but yes it will work.

I feel sorry for whoever buys the vette. Your dealership sounds like a trust worthy one.

Hmm hopefully that car doesn't end up in my part of NY and some one around here gets hosed.
Morals aside yes you can do the swap. you will need to plug the hole in the LS1 intake though and that might raise a few eyebrows on prospective buyers of the vette. Someone else already mentioned the other required steps for the swap.

Alright, I decided not to do it lol. Your all right. This car will be sold to someone sooner or later and I would be upset if it has been downgraded. Can't do that to a fellow LS1 owner.. Thanks guys. I'll save up some money and just buy one.

Good to hear. It would be very unethical to do that. They are sold intermittently on here, $300-$400 usually

I don't need the entire setup? I can take my fuel rails and bolt everything on the LS6 intake and have the same results?

Yup. All you need to do for an LS6 swap is get the intake, and the coolant tube set up for the LS6. Its like 70 bucks for the entire kit minus the intake obviously. You can grind on the intake to make your stock coolant lines work but why risk it when 70 bucks will get the job done properly and not risk ruining your intake.

I would suggest buying new intake gaskets as well. Some people like to convert to the LS2 valley cover as well while doing the swap.

Side note it wouldn't hurt to have spare O-rings for your injectors as well a nicked or messed up injector O-ring can cause some gremlins to pop up.

you don't necessarily need the coolant cross over tubes... I did mine without them just trimmed the intake

IMO you should have done it. It's not something most people would notice and the ones who care would be checking it anyway.

If you go buy a 20 year old car you should be looking **** over...for all anyone knows the 2001 engine was replaced with a 2000 along the way. It would be the same thing.
