? about 0W-40 Mobil
Okay after reading the post on the best oil, i decided to buy some Mobil
0W-40 European Car formula SuperSyn. Did i make the right decision? I am using Mobil 10W-30 right now.
It gets very hot in Texas! And i drive my car the way its supose to be driven. I won't be puting it in for two days, so i can still retern it if ya'll think i should get the 30 instead.

Well Im running with no problem here in Chicago. Its not as hot as Texas though, but on hot days here running the car hard Ive always sustained great oil pressure. If anything Im sure Patman will chime in hes the oil expert here. As far as my opinion I dont think youll have any problems, if Im not mistakening Mobil 0w40 is like a heavy 30 when heated or something like that. Good Luck

Mobil 1 0w40 is definitely a good choice, and is a much better viscosity for the LS1 than Mobil 1's 5w30 or 10w30, both of which are closer to being 20 weight oils.

(Patman) lastnight i was reading up on some of your posts from another website, and you recomended german Castrol 0W-30, or amsoil 0W-30, more so than the mobil one because of the higher iron content in the mobil one which might mean more engine wear than the other two, but still find that it is a dam good oil. So if i can find one of those easly enough ill retern the mobil one. And man you are sure deadicated to answering all the oil questions you get asked, ive learned alot from your posts. thanks!!

However, if Patman has more current info on the K&N oil filters than I have, I defer to the expert.

Wix makes good oil filters too, but they don't flow quite as well as the K&N. I ran a Wix on my LT1 just before the K&N. The Wix would be a great choice for a daily driver that isn't driven super hard.

hey patman, i told my brother to use the german castrol Ow-30 also, he has a 2003 chevy SS truck, 6.0L. is this okay?
on another note i found the Castrol really easy today at one of our autozone's, and put it in today. I'll be returning the Molbil.
whats the part # for the k&n oil filter? thanks ahead of time.

The German Castrol will work well in the 6.0 engine too, in fact it'll work well in any vehicle which originally calls for 5w30 or 10w30.
The K&N oil filter number is HP1007 for the stock one or HP2006 for the longer one.

You can definitely use GC 0w30 in Chicago. Your weather is like mine in Toronto, and I use it year round in all of my family's cars.
