Default What is the best tuner

I got a 2001 5.3 swapped into my 1970 c10 it has a gm ls hot cam long tube headers but pretty much stock from there. Runs fair a little rich but do want to idle when warmed up. Thinking it needs a tune but what is the best way is the best way. Send off the ecu to be tuned or buy a tuner? If buying a tuner which one is the best to buy?

The above answers are only half correct. A dyno tune will net you the most power possible, but you'll really want a tuner who's also willing to do a street tune to clean up any remaining driveability issues with that setup.

The above answer is only half correct. Eventually you will start to wonder how all this "tuning" stuff really works, and you will want to try for yourself. Then you will need HPtuners or EFIlive, and endless hours of reading and experimenting to give yourself the best possible tune for your own car.

Really depends on budget. For your mild modifications sending your computer off for a tune should net you nice results, and be the most inexpensive route. With that being said having someone tune the vehicle in person is the best option in case there are any issues that arise. This could potentially save you from sending the computer back and forth through the mail several times. HP Tuners is one of the most popular software choices that shops, and customers go. This is what I would recommend if you are looking to purchase something for yourself.
