Default is an x-pipe worth it?

undefinedI'm going to put a new exhaust on my car,(2000 ws6) should i go ahead and put an x-pipe on instead of just doing the cat back? Would the horsepower gain be worth it? I'm going with Borla, any better suggestions?

Do a search. LOTS of threads about that. I'll paraphrase for you: It's not worth extra money for the usually minor power poost, dumped duals are very economical compared to a full ypipe-catback setup, it's a matter of personal pref as to whether or not it's worth it for the sound. For me, it's worth it for the sound, no question. Also, I'd vote for GMMG over borla borla any day.

as said here, if you are simply worried about the power gains, it may not be worth the extra money, although you will get a lil more power. As for sound, it is well worth the extra money. i absolutely love how my Lanes setup sounds.

where did you here that, duals will provide a few more peak hp/tq but give you a ton more under the curve. i've seen duals pick up as much as 18rwtq@3500 over a Y/catback setup.

Yes JRP, you have a point there. Duals shine in under the curve power, especially torque in the low-mid range. I try not to argue that point because it seems a lot of people do not believe in duals making you any real power gain over a Y-pipe (same goes for LT's over mids) because they look at peak gains, etc. It seems like for a low power car it still may not be worth extra money for duals, that's why I always recommend dumped duals they are worth every penny For example: my power level is NOTHING for my mods (damn 98 A4 though), but my torque curve is bitchin'. I make 320+rwtq out of a max of 337 starting in the mid 3k rpm area all the way to 5k rpm.

I wish i would have went the true dual route, but TSP just released their's like a month after i installed by LM. Honestly, i really regret it now.

I really want to kick myself sometimes. LOL

TSP's product is really nice. Just be aware that a 3 inch true dual system is pretty big. You may lose some low end.

if you do, it won't be much......plus, the gains under the curve are where its at...so any losses down real low, it will be more then evened out in the end.
