I could be wrong but I believe it assist in getting air to the radiator. If removed your car may run a little hotter. Maybe a pro will chime in and let us know.

Please don't remove this. It definately pulls air up into and through your radiator. I'm not pro but i've been lurking long enough to know that removing this is a bad idea.

Yup....Dont remove this! It directs air up to your radiator....Notice we dont have a functional grill on our car???....This makes up for it.

The last 2 replies are correct remove this and when you sit in traffic and then take off it want cool back down as quick and if you decide to road race you would for sure need it. Someone took the one on my 98 off before I bought it which was in the winter and as soon as it warmed up outside I could tell that I was gonna need it, so I went to the dealership and purchased one.

Just leave it. Either you won't file it down enough to make a difference anyway, or if you do file it enough, you've just let a lot of air escape your radiator's path.

Why the concern/bother?

Do not mess with it. It's a major portion of the car's ability to deflect the oncoming air into the radiator.

Plus its just flimsy **** and it's not gonna make a difference if you scrape the hell out of it. I do it everytime i leave my driveway cuz my car is lowered. Big deal.

I would leave the air dam on (actualy i have to my LP is screwed to it) and learn to use a little more driver finess. slow down for bumps, and don't pull up so close when you have a parking barrier in front of you.
