seems like this is more dyno or internal section topic, but gomer made like 472rwhp with that setup. but his patriots have been race ported. his car has always dynoed very well.

On street tires? Your times will suck because you won't have traction... with that kind of power, step up to the plate with some ET Streets or Hoosier QTPs.

If you want to have lots of power, you need to have all the components in place to put it to the ground effectively... otherwise there's no point in having it. That means tires, bigger rear end, more gear, stouter clutch & driveshaft, and a suspension designed to help put power to the ground and not absorb so much it through the chassis.

If you can't use all that power, no sense in having it, IMO...

yes i know...my friend just doesn't think that i could run 11's on street tires with heads/cam/boltons....i may not be able to but i thought for sure i have seen it on here before...maybe not...i would most likely be using bfg drag radials...im not too much of a track person...it is more of a daily driver so et streets aren't going to work for me

I still say get an extra set of cheap 16" stock wheels and mount a set of ET Streets on them... just use them at the track. I drive around on 17" SS wheels with street tires for the street, and 16" firebird rims with the ET Streets on the track. I wouldn't bother with drag radials if you want to run 11s consistantly... some people do it, yes, but ET Streets and Hoosiers will get you there for sure.

Also make sure your suspension, gearing, clutch, and driveshaft are all up to the challenge. After my first race with my cam only setup, I could really tell I needed a new clutch & driveshaft otherwise I risked frying the clutch or snapping the driveshaft (both are still stock).

would the stock trans am 16" rims work...would they be wide enough...and would a spec 3 clutch be fine or should i go with a spec4? and i haven't decided which 12 bolt i want...i've heard both good and bad from both moser and strange? any suggestions i see you have the moser

Oh yeah, the 16" firebird rims are plenty wide enough... I have the 26x10 ET Streets and they fit perfectly.

The spec stage 3 will be fine... that's what I plan on going with, along with a new billet steel flywheel. I have a Moser 12 bolt, and I have no complaints so far... but just know that if you go with a gear like 4.11 or more, they will make some noise. However, with a big cam like FM13, you'll need at least 4.11s to make good use of the powerband... I'm thinking of stepping up to 4.30s this off season.

yeah 4.11's were what i was planning on going with...i don't mind too much about the noise since the exhaust will most likely drown it out anyways....gmmg/lt's/ory...plus im still wanting to get fairly good gas mileage...25 on the highway is what im hopeing for...forget about city driving since i have somewhat of a heavy foot depending on my mood...either way im just not real big on slicks and track racing all that much...but im sure ill visit the g-ville tracks occasionally..my original thoughts were to go with a 315/30/18 bfg as a daily driver but i might be sticking with a 295/35/18 gforce kdw if it's not worth it
