Default 160 thermostat

I am thinking about purchasing the 160 thermostat, how hard is it to install? do I have to remove any major componets, other that the air box, lid, tb, and maf?

Im not a huge newb to LS1's, but I havent really done many mods, and I just want to make sure that I properly research any mods before I do them!

extremely simple to do, not exactly sure where it is on an LS1, but it takes a matter of minutes to do, and is extremely cheap......only bad effect is it might take a little longer to heat the car up in winter, but im sure your not gonna drive the Z28 in winter

It's a very easy install..

Check out:
www.installuniversity.net
- Install Documents
- 160 Thermostat install

They list it as anywhere from 20-60 mins...

Easy to do. I put in the Hypertech Powerstat 160. Zero problems.

Like Venom said, but it wont really make a difference just yet. You have to tune the new stat with hpp3 or another. Otherwise your ride wont know the difference between 195 and 160.

Its a really easy install. Drain your radiator and its two bolts (next to the battery) and a radiator hose. Then fill your car back up with coolant. Make sure you have your fans set to 1st 180 on - 175 off and 2nd 185 on - 180 off

Cake... Hardest part is removing the old radiator hose. It can be stuck on there pretty good. I had to use a big flathead screwdriver and some channel locks to get it off.

i agree with the hose being the hardest part, yet i made the mistake of unbolting the therm first. Needless to say, i ended up just re-bolting it back so i could get the hose off a lot easier.

Very easy job, but it is a little messy (or at least i was messy)
