Which is faster? SS or WS6?
What are the differences and which one is faster. Both M6's, same good driver, tires, temp etc.
0-60
1/4 Mile
HP/TRQ.
It will probably come down to who weighs less. Have they ever done this comparison, or has anybody here done this? I am currently looking to buy a 01 WS6, and am wondering how it would stack up against an SS same year?
How bout the Firehawk, may even consider buying a hawk.
Thx

damn, cant believe these questions still come up
there is no difference; an ls1 is an ls1 is an ls1 when comparing same year same tranny. FWIW though popular mechanics did a drag test of 10 cars and the SS and WS6 formula were there and the WS6 bested the SS by a couple of tenths and MPH.

Here's my $0.02...
A stripper M6 Z28 will be the fastest (if they come w/ an M6 ). It boils down to weight because a LS1 is a LS1 is a LS1.
...and it's true, Ram Air looks cool but doesn't do a whole lot.

as stated the ws6 looks cool but tips the scales higher then any other coupe ls1.

The faster car will be the one with the better driver behind the wheel
Just for referance on the LS1 cars, and proof factory ratings mean ****, my "lowly Z28" with a factory rating of 305 flywheel horsepower and 310 (I think 310...?) flywheel torque, put down 319 HP and 334 torque at the wheels. You do the math The only reason to get a WS6 or SS is for the looks and the name, nothing else. Z28s and Formulas are cooler, IMO

Yeah I think it's personal opinon. You say the z28s and the formulas are cooler. Why because you didn't get the SS or the WS6? It depends on the driver because some people can get their SS in the high 12's (very few) most in the mid 13's. I don't believe the test the books give becaues some use the lift throttle/push clutch method, the track is probably preped like a MF and seat time with YOUR car makes a difference because only you ( if your are a GOOD DRIVER) can find that sweet spot in your car.

Thanks for the flames guys, just asked a simple question. Sheesh. I also stated same skilled driver for both, obviously a driver makes a race.
That's all for now.

ive outrun an a4 ss and went dead even with an 02 ws6 m-6 car. i woulda toasted the ws6 from a dig because of my traction and his lack there of. i diddnt even have the airlid when i ran the ws6 (like it woulda helped anyway). so id blame the driver if one beat the other. also, there are those freak cars which can go 12.90's when all the rest of the stockers are doin 13.5's. you cant divide hairs with these cars, if you car isnt one of those "freak" cars, spend a couple hunerd and make it outrun the freaks.

As far as the Firehawk is concern. I am not sure if it weighs more or less than the Camaro SS;i think it would be very close. In 53 degrees weather my 2002 Camaro SS totally stock went 12.96 at 107.8 It also is a Automatic!

Depends, do either of the cars have vinyl stickers or any type of lights in the winshield wiper fluid ports? Extensive testing by the import community has shown that to give dramatic gains.

i know iam going to get flame for this but in actual races by the profesionals if there is such a thing the ws6 was just a bit faster than the ss, somewhere i heard this is because the ws6 had a little bit more torque. However i don't see how that could be since how everyone else has stated a ls1, is a sl1, is a ls1 so there for my only conclusion is that a ls1 is a ls1. lol
there you go that should answer your question, however in the real world is all up to the driver, and mods on the car, so just buy wich ever one you like best
