Default First Z28

Bought my first Z28 this month. It's a 1999 contvertible Z28 with only 6500 miles. Here is my question. The car was keep in a garage under a cover and only driven in the Summer and on weekends. I have always heard cars that sit to long can have issues. Should I be concerned? The car runs great and looks like it just rolled off the show room floor.

I can't believe how much faster this car is stock than my Mustang.

Yep, inside storage is no problem so long as the things like the oil were changed from time to time and fuel was kept fresh, and the car was driven once in a while.

I just bought my '98 Z28 about 6 weeks ago, it's only got 11K perfect summer weather miles, similar to yours.

I only used my WS6 in perfect weather as well, I bought that one new in '00 and only put 9500 miles on it in 4.5 years. Never had any issues with it from sitting all winter or long periods between drives.

Congrats on the find, 6500 miles on a '99 is rare.

My Formula has 8,600 miles on it. The previous owner changed the oil twice in 5 years and kept it outside under a car cover and car port. But it looks fine and drives great. Pulls harder then my old Formula that was garage kept and maintained much better. If the car feels fine and looks fine I don't think you have anything to be concerned about. I'd rather have a sub-10k mile car then a high mile car even if it was stored for long periods of time.

Battery could be dead, but obviously that's not a big deal....

The only thing I'd be worried about is your AC compressor since it was rarely lubricated. (AC needs to be run at least once a month for 5 to 10 minutes)

That's one of the worst excuses for thread hijacking I have ever seen.

To humor your question: it all depends! Anything from 330 rwhp to nearly 400 rwhp. Seriously.

Congrats on the car. My car sits in my garage all winter. I've done this every year I have the car since new. I've never had any problems.

No problem.

At this point into the winter, I'm really starting to lose it. Feb is one of the hardest months for me to get through because it's usually the last month of really bad weather. March starts to really improve and by April 55-60 degree temps are common. I can't wait.

I don't have it that bad but I do park my car (in the garage) for most of the winter. I can usually drive it into December but January & February are pretty much out. But even in the spring/summer/fall I only drive it on the weekends (I just turned over 10k). I think the last time I drove my car was Christmas day.

Mine has been stored from the end of october to the begining of april for the last 6 winters. Never had any problem so far.

Only things I do when I store it is to fill the tank to the cap, up the tire pressure to 45 and take off the battery. I change the oil just before putting it back on the road.

LOL!

Yeah plenty of people always give me a hard time because I don't drive my F-bodies more. They think I don't have any fun with them. Let me tell you, that's not even close to true. I have plenty of fun cruising on the weekends in the spring/summer/fall when the weather is perfect and traffic is light(er). Nothing fun about driving any car in a daily urban rush hour commute and/or with sleet, snow, and ice all over the road anyway, so why rack up miles on the "fun" car?

I drive my fun cars during fun times. I have a daily driver for all the other times.

When I bought the car it came with a bra on the front (Two piece) Never had a car with one. I've been told by people that the bra will capture moisture and fade the paint. The car has never been in the snow or rain but I'll be driving most days this spring. Anyone heard of these issues? Should I take the bra off?
