SS or not?

SS or not?
I just bought what seems to be a 1998 camaro SS recently. I have noticed that most car information sites like carpoint have the 1998 SS listed as a z28 with an SS package, but every year afterwards 99-02 they have the camaro SS as an actual model, not a package for the z28. My camaro has all (i guess) the SS normal badging, and the spoiler, but it has a cowl induction hood, and 16" chrome wheels instead of the 17" ones i always see. The RPO does not list WU8 or whatever the SS RPO code is, so is this supposed to be the same for all SS camaros or is mine a fake?

As far as I know, all true SS cars (of any LS1 year) have the WU8 RPO code.

i paid around 10000. It wasn't advertised as an SS, but in the description it said "SS package." I went to carpoint.com and sure enough, it says SS package under z28 when all the other years had SS as a seperate model so i thought it could have been true. It doesn't matter as much to me since i didn't care whether it was or not before i bought it since the mileage is relatively low, i just thought it it'd be nice that it also was an SS. Is there a difference between my car and an SS besides the RPO code and advertised HP?

Only thing that gives an SS any more power than a Z28 (stock for stock) is a slightly better flowing catback. If you already have an aftermarket exhaust, then this isn't even a concern.

I always liked the though of a debadged Z with slp's two out the left exhaust... The confusion caused by the setup could be well worth the conversion from what I have.
