Default Finally got an LS1

Hello everyone. Been a long time member of fbody.com. My first fbody was a 1997 Arctic White A4 Trans Am which I sold. And last week I picked up a 2001 Sunset Orange Metallic M6 Trans Am WS6. Its already got Chrome ZR1's. First mods I am doing include Pro 5.0 shifter with Lou's short stick, SLP Lid, Mac Midlength headers, and SLP Loudmouth Exhaust. Check out this picture of my car..It was a 2001 and it was in the showroom, absolutely immaculate. I got it for $19,300...I think that was a good deal.

not yet...but soon...i just took that pic from the dealer offline. I found it in CT at a Hummer dealership. Thought it was a nice find...only 195 or so in that color with those options in 2001 (ws6, 6 speed, black leather, t-tops)

That is a bad *** WS6 and it is nice that you already have the Mac mids on there. If you can record and post a sound clip with the exhaust set up you have it would be sweet and I think LS1Sounds could use a Mac with Loud Mouth setup.

Congrats

That's one of the sweetest looking f-bodies I have ever seen. And a six speed to boot. Congrats on the new ride!

First off, NICE car!

Second, Mac mids are NOT emissions legal. They relocate the cats on LS1s (moved farther downstream). If you have a visual inspection to pass, you will fail if they are strict about the rules. This would probably only be an issue in CA though. But offically (even if you can sneak by), any headers that move the location of the cats from the stock location will not be able to get CARB numbers, and will also be federally illegal.

Pass emissions then get some LT's.

I'm going for my emissions test tomorrow, and throwing some hookers on sunday.

For the cost to do the switch it would be better to stick to the Mac mids IMO. After all the Macs flow close to a LT.

This is the same problem I am having in Virginia. Any time you relocate the cats from the factory location it "should" fail the visual. That is unless the inspector overlooks it or you know somebody.

Has this happened to you specifically? Or is it just something you've heard? Just curious because I'm in Va as well. Also, how does the inspector know where the 'stock location' is?
