Just wondering...tires breaking loose at higher rpms...
I have been noticing since I did all my mods and tuning that I have a sort of unusual wheelspin problem. I normally do a light takeoff and then hit the gas, and I can usually do it without spinning, but at about 4500 rpms, or maybe a little higher in first, my tires start to spin. I am running stock size tires (mostly so I don't destroy my rear) and all...but I just thought that was a little weird. Is it normal on stock tires?

The tires spinning at a low rpm is a sign overpowering them, the same is true of high rpm spins. At the point where they begin to spin the power is coming on harder than the tires can find traction. I've experienced it in a couple M6 cars before.

Looks like you'll have to be Johnny Featherfoot for awhile until you get some traction. Dont feel bad though, I'm going to have to be featherfooting this spring too.

Man...I wonder how long it will take to burn this set of tires off...they are a softer compound...(keep in mind I got 37k out of the stock tires, but they probably would not have passed inspection this month, with all the dry-rot and all).

I had better be doing at least 60 or when i stomp it the tires still spin... thanks to the 4.11 gears... I have to have the M/T DR's .... they hook hard from a launch on stock rims!

Yes but were talking lids and catbacks on a 98 with 2.73's. If you stomp it it will put you sidesways at 60. And when purchased the car thoses Goodyear Sparrows would roast on command 1st thru 3rd and were talking A4 w/w 2.73. Maybe I better just keep this car instead of trying to find a 35th ann. model. Y'all got some serious performance problems and just don't know it.

Mine is the same. 01 A4 2.73's.. Rumbler cat back, Lid, FRA.
On my dunlop Snow tires 225/55's on stock firebird rims outside temps below freezing the car hooks initially.. then around 3500rpm or so it starts to spin them hard. my summer tires, goodyear Eagle F1's on stock snowflakes, during the same cold weather just roast them from a standstill to any speed below 55mph. lol.. I got the car when it was cold out so I dunno how the F1's will be in the warm weather but I'm guessing they will not spin.
I think its normal for the tires to break loose at or near the torque peak.
