Got a Shifter **** with a Cool Button! Now What to do With Button?
Hehe. I got a shifter **** for Christmas. It was almost the one I wanted!
I wanted the white Hurst 6-speed ball and got the white Hurst 6-speed ball... with a red button. Well, long story short, I took it out of the package and put it on my shifter. Looks cool, but I don't want a button that has no function, or a dumb function.
I was thinking about getting an NX wet kit, but it's activated with a WOT switch, and that's best for saftey. Could I maybe make it so that the WOT and the button has to be pressed? I could say that I have it that way for traction reasons. Heck, it may not be a bad idea now that I think of it...
Advice on what to do with the button?

You could make it like your arming switch. You would have the WOT switch like normal, and this would make the final connection. Like I have my arming switch in the ash tray, and depending on the situation sometimes I just flip it on for the juice when I desire, or I already have it on and when I go WOT and the rpms are at 3k and up on my window switch then it sprays.
If you went this route you would have to hold the button down to keep it going....that might be unconveinant while trying to shift, but that's all I can think of.

Christmas!
Ooooh! I like the cut-out idea! I have two QTP cut-outs (and headers, and Y), but don't have them on the car yet.
Wait... Wouldn't that would mean I would have to hold down the button to keep them open? No, I wouldn't like that...
I know it was meant to keep the car from rolling at the line, but I've never had that problem and wouldn't want to go to the trouble.
How about purge?

By the way, nice lid only time!
I don't know. Still thinking about making it purge...

Nah, it doesn't "click," it just pushes down.

I have been installing spray on almost all my cars since 78(I am 45 now ) but I use that shift ball on my 02 SS,as my activation switch I know I will get flamed for it but it is only a 100 dry shot and I am not looking for 10/10ths consistent 1/4 mile times but at this stage in life just looking for some easy street races/money runs(i.e. sandbagging ) being able to easily "on & off" when I need it that button works great I always say its for my line lock. In the "old" days that was just the way it was done, I have never lost an engine because of that(knocks on wood)

I like the nitrous purge idea, line lock, or the use of the button for the n2o to spray. The idea for the cutout is pretty good too, but if you accidently hit it while you are shifting.......

Makes burnouts easier...saves the rear brakes while doing a burnout...don't have to try to brake, clutch, and gas at the same time for a burnout...

The nitrous purge sounds like the best idea to me.
