Default Hi mileage LS1

Im posting this up for a friend, he just bought an older style TA, mid 80s I think. He is looking for and found an LS1 engine out of an 1998 TA.
The one he found has 90,000mi on it. I guess he wants to rebuild it..
And yes he is aware of all the 98 problems, but what would a good price be for this engine? I guess the guy replaced this LS1 with a crate motor, so it has almost everything with it. No tranny.

anyone know what this engine is worth?
thanks
JD

Show me where I can get a complete LS1 minus the tranny for $700-$1000 and I'll buy 10 of em.

i would venture to say its worth around 2000. maybe less because a person that would buy it wouldn't want a 98, if they had a choice.

The heads aren't as good as the later 241's, weaker rod bolts, and VERY VERY few were cast thin in certain area's on the block making pores causing them to leak w/a higher volume oil pump, MINE! Other than that the only other thing wrong is its a 98 and everyone thinks they suck. If someone steps in a says only 98's have bad oil pumps i'm going to beat them up with words on LS1TECH, its a 98 thru 00 issue!

EDIT: Let me clarify the oil pump issue, it was only a few cars out of the bunch that had bad oil pumps and usually gave out at relatively low milage, if your say over 30k your probably good.
