Default K&N Sealing!!!

Is it necessary to use the foam gasket that comes with the filter. I put it on my stock lid but now I am getting an aftermarket lid. Is there anywhere I can purchase a new gasket. Thanks a lot.

I had to do the same thing, should just peel off if it hasn't been on there too long. Not sure if you can get one somewhere else. Maybe try contacting K&N?

Yes, You need that gasket for it to seal properly. When you get an aftermarket lid, you will still need that seal (my SLP lid fit the filter the same and I imagine that the others do as well).

If you do not want to shell out for the 'real' seal/gasket, You can find some adhesive backed weather stripping @ the same size all day long at the home depot or lowes... CHEAP! I found stuf that was identical for a few bucks.

Good luck with your project.

I called K&N and told them I had bought a filter and that I needed a new gasket because I had bought an aftermarket lid and I asked if I could buy a new gasket. The representative just asked me for my name and address and sent me a new one in about 5 days for free.

Whats the phone number? I haven't had a seal since it broke while I took it off the other airbox.
