How long do you guys wait for you car to warm up?
I know my 92 camaro needed at least 10 min. to warm up and it would idle high until it did.
But that was an old iron block 305.
What about these new ls1s? How long do you guys wait before driving?
This is ofcourse after the car as set for hours letting the all the coolant and oil temp down to outside air temp. Like overnight.

the general rule is you can get in and go as long as you stay under 25mph for the 1st mile.
for my camaro i wait for it to get off the left side of the gauge like someone else said so at least the oil temp is registering on the gauge.

I wait a min before going, general rule is keep under half of redline and 1/4 to 1/2 throttle till its warm, its warm in around 5 mins of driving, 10 mins if its cold.
LS1 engines heat up VERY quickly compared to my old gen1 engine. When cold (40F or less), my 88 car will drive for as much as 20 mins before it reads a tick on the guage and isn't at normal operating temp till I've been driving for almost 25 mins.

Keep in mind that if you're just letting the car sit to reach operating temp, you are ONLY warming the engine. Not the gear box, rear end, or brakes.
General rule is to let the idle settle a bit...30 seconds roughly, and then you can drive away, just don't rev the engine past 2500 until it reaches open loop operation. After that, flog away.

I start it and go immediately, even when it's -15F (luckily this winter it hasn't even gotten below 10F here)
I just drive very gentle until the oil warms up. For instance, I keep the rpms below 1500 until the oil gets to 100F, then I still keep it below 2000 rpm until the oil hits 150F. I don't go full throttle until the oil gets over 180F.

If both of these previous parameters are summarily ruled as not applicable to your stated disposition, then the only other alternative remaining in your case is the following:
Your skills in defining the basics of heat and mass transfer are only fully eclipsed by your expertise and skill in the written English language (as is evidenced by your previous post) .
