01 SS or 98-00 corvette
Right now I have a 2001 camaro SS a4, I have a slp lid, flowmaster cat-back with a open cut-out, pacesetter LT with catted Y and a new MAF. My question is I have always wanted a corvette and the only one I can really afford is a 98-00 one. Should I just keep my SS and put more $$$ in to it or sell it and get a vette. If i get the vett i will put a intake, full exhaust including LT's and a good tune and that would make me happy. I was just wondering if that vette is that much better or should I just keep my money and put it into the SS. Keeping in mind the car is my daily driver.

hard to say i love the vetts but you need to do what in your best interest bc it will just make you think about what if i got the vett i wish i had one i should have bought it but on the other hand you do have a SS hard to come by on the other hand a vett is a bad *** car

Take a look at my sig for my sequence of LS1's. Depends a BUNCH on you and how you utilize the car. Vette, great car, great handling etc.. SS is MUCH more exclusive, quieter ride, more versitile, great travelling car, rotatable tires/wheels w/spare. Stupid little things like dual drink holders that work, seats that fully recline if you are into long haul double driving straight thru. No gas gauge/tank issues, no column lock issues, no rocking seat track issues, a real psudo trunk. No dragging on common speed bumps or intersections or driveway inclines. Much less worry about bending a connecting rod getting thru some rain high water by "ingesting" water from a minor street flood.
The list goes on, on both sides of the question. The C5 is drop deal gorgeous(sp?) and the feel of the handling for me for day in day out use was spectacular compared to most other road cars I could afford.
F-body is much quieter and an easier day in day out car if you are on the road. I'll spend some effort to bring the highway handling of my SS closer to my C5's. Probably the big Hotchkiss hollow sway bars front and rear again like my stroker car and also Koni shocks from Sam with then revised alignment and also maybe poly/rubber LCA's.

The Vette is a much better car all around (or so I hear.) The best thing to do is test drive a used C5 at a dealership near you, and make your own decision based on that. The C5 tends to be a more "mature" refined car than the brutish, boy-racer F-body. I love them both, but would seriously consider buying the $16,000 M6 Vette for sale locally if I had the money.

It's all up to you. I never really started liking the C5's until I picked one up a couple years ago from Ebay that had 3,000 miles on it. It is a 50th anniversary. It was located in Seatle WA. We flew out there and drove it back to WI. It is a blast to drive and surprizingly comfortable. I think it is an overall awesome car for the money. The F-bodies are more of a muscle car and the C5 is more of a sports car.

Drive one for business day in day out for a year or two with all the small issues that the C5 comes with and you'll get a better understanding. I dearly loved getting to drive the car generally but enjoyed it much more when it could be appreciated as a "toy" for those best days for enjoyment driving.
I've had both alone and both at the same time. I've had 500HP stroker and great handling f body cars. Relatively rare SS's in lower quantity color and C5's in Mag' Red and Nassau Blue. All had their nitch. "For me" the F body is a greatly more versatile and forgiving car for day in day out 365 days a year travel. Near C5 performance as much as you can use it on metropolitan roads and in the SS, a much more exclusive ( quantity of cars built ) eye catcher. Around Florida you can see a C5 most anytime but the SS 4th Gen' F body gets as many or more thumbs up than my C5's did. 8000 mile cross country road trip from Florida thru the Dakotas to Yellowstone to the Salt Flats and back thru Pikes Peak and Texas got everyday thumbs up acknowledgement on our 2001 SOM SS. Maybe it is the color.

F-body is quieter? I don't think so. I've had both and my C5 is a lot smoother and quieter than my f-bodies were. And I find the C5 is much more comfortable for daily driving.
