Default SLP, Do all SS Camaros qualify?

I've hear the term SLP, Street Limited Performance. I have a 98 SS M6, how is it determined if a Camaro fits this description? Thanks, I know this sounds like a novice question.

SLP "supped" up the carmaros to make them SS's if its a real SS, so all SS's and firehawks were fixed up by SLP

you will have a slp sticker on the inside of either door or both doors, mine has one on each door.they will list your slp options on them & then there are some ss cars that just have the ss hood & ss spoiler from slp

Thanks, the correction to Street Legal Performance makes more sense to me. My car is a true SS, What do they do to make it a SS? Thanks again!

If you see someone who lists an "SLP SS" in their sig, that likely means they simply have an SS with the Y2Y (SLP option) code. Unfortunately that really doesn't tell you much because that could mean anything from SS floormats to the 345hp "blackwing" intake package and 1LE suspension.

Alot of SS's are missing their SLP tags. I had to go over my buddy's car to determine the options he had, no sign of his SLP tag. Wouldn't have known to even look if not for the Y2Y code on the GM tag.

Just because it's not an slp car, doesn't mean it's not a "true SS," they still have more options and hp than a z-28 (98-00)

Someone else will chime in here, but SLP wasn't contracted to work on the Pontiacs. Another company called A .... something or other.

all the true SS's have a wu8 code on the RPO sticker on the door, mine has zero SLP options - but it is still a SLP camaro does that make sense. hood, spoiler, suspension, exhaust, SS wheels higher speed rated tires, and a hurt shifter shifter, ( don't think the z's had the hurst? ) although i really still don't know the difference in the engine between a plain SS and a plain Z. i think they just changed the HP ratings for marketing purposes, but i could be wrong. only thing different is a better flowing muffler.

The SS's rolled off the assembly line. Then were trucked to SLP to be finished. The SLP options were ordered through local dealerships as if they were factory options.

The early years 96 & 97 the cars had more standard Z28 parts removed. 98-02 the Z28's were closer to the base SS. Many SS standard parts were installed on the assembly line by GM. This reduced SLP to only hoods, sploilers and badges on none optioned cars.

There is tons of info on Hamberger and his dream of building cars. Look into it at least a little if you own an SS. We have a lot to thank the SLP guys for.

My understanding is that the 98-02 SS cars shared their suspension with the Z28's. I'm not sure about the 96-97 cars.
